So much of my adulthood is trying to recapture what I was so good at in my childhood. Untethered by the silly made up expectations we have made of ourselves, a lot more fearless, a lot less dependent on coffee (though I love coffee).
I spent my childhood years on stage, where I discovered my brazen ability to perform for a crowd. Once the curtains unveiled, I could make myself any form, character or personality I wanted.
Advertising is a lot like theater.
We perform a creative act. We make people feel things. We hope to make the best of their time with us. And sometimes the person in the audience could be a very important person who decides your fate.
I’ve been a copywriter for twelve years and counting. But a lover of words since I’d discovered what words even were. I’ve been very lucky to work with some giants, win some metals, and mentor some incredible new talent that I’m proud of. Singapore Airlines and Hilton mostly pay my bills these days. A lot of my free time goes to perfecting my barista skills (I told you I loved coffee), and I find as much pleasure in an architectural masterpiece as I do a finely crafted deck.
